Three ways to get the book

First, you can request a printed copy from the Church. You choose how it is delivered, and you can decline a visit if you would rather read on your own. Second, you can read the complete text on the Book of Mormon online. Third, you can listen to it or read it in the free Gospel Library app.

If you would rather ask a person, send a message through our requests page and a member of the ward will respond. There is no cost for any of this and no obligation to attend church.

What the book is

The Book of Mormon is a volume of scripture that Latter-day Saints read alongside the Bible. They believe it is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a record of ancient peoples in the Americas, and it teaches about faith, repentance, family and service. It takes its name from Mormon, an ancient prophet and record keeper who compiled much of it.

Many readers start with a chapter such as Alma 32, which talks about how faith can grow. Others begin at the beginning. There is no wrong place to start, and you can read at your own pace.

If you have questions as you read

Readers often have questions, and that is welcome. You can ask through the contact page, or visit us on a Sunday. Missionaries can also answer questions in person or by video. The Church explains how that works on its meet with missionaries page. You are in charge of how much or how little contact you have.
