Easter at church in San Clemente

Latter-day Saints celebrate Easter as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter always falls on a Sunday, so the Marblehead Ward holds its regular sacrament meeting that morning at 9:00 AM, often with a focus on Christ's resurrection. Everyone in San Clemente is welcome.

What Easter means to members

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to what Latter-day Saints believe. They teach that because Christ rose, every person will live again after death, and that his sacrifice offers forgiveness and hope. Easter is the season when members give those ideas special attention.

Many families mark the day with a church service, a meal together and an egg hunt for the children. Others read the account of Christ's final week and talk about what it means for their lives.

Sunday services at Easter

The Easter service follows the usual order of sacrament meeting, with hymns, prayers, talks and the sacrament, but the music and messages turn toward the resurrection. The meeting lasts about an hour. If you bring children, they are welcome in the chapel with you.

Specific plans, such as a special musical number or an extra family activity, vary from year to year. We do not list anything here that has not been confirmed, so see the ward calendar and news page for this year's details.

Joining us

Neighbors from San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point are welcome to come. There is no cost and no need to tell us ahead of time. For an address, parking and what to expect, open our visit page. If you would like to learn more about Christ's life and teachings, ComeUntoChrist is a good place to read.

You can also ask about attending with a friend or family member through the contact page.

Reflecting during the week before

Many members use the days before Easter to read about the last week of Christ's life and to think about what the resurrection means for them. Children may color pictures or hear a story. You are welcome to do the same at home, whatever your background, and to talk with us afterward if you have questions about what Latter-day Saints believe.
