Christmas at church in San Clemente

Latter-day Saints celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ. In December the Marblehead Ward in San Clemente may hold music, service and family activities, and you are welcome at any of them. Regular Sunday services continue, with sacrament meeting at 9:00 AM.

What Christmas means to Latter-day Saints

For members of the Church, Christmas is a time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and what his life means. Many families read the Christmas story together, sing carols and look for ways to help someone in need. The season is also about family, with meals, traditions and time together.

The Church encourages people everywhere to follow Christ's example of service during the holidays. Many members in our area choose to help neighbors, support local organizations and look out for people who may be alone.

At church in December

Sunday services in December often include Christmas hymns and a message about Jesus Christ. The ward may also gather for a musical program or a family evening. We do not post dates here that we have not confirmed, so please check the ward calendar and the news page for what is planned this year.

If Christmas Day itself falls on a Sunday, the usual sacrament meeting is held, and ward members may adjust other plans. The calendar will show any change.

Coming as a guest

Neighbors and friends from San Clemente, Talega and Forster Ranch are welcome at any Christmas gathering. There is no cost, and no one will ask you to join the Church. If it is your first time, the visit page explains where to park and what to expect.

You may also want to give your time. JustServe lists local volunteer needs, and our serve page shows how the ward helps. For anything else, write to us through the contact page.

Quiet ways to mark the season

Not every part of Christmas needs a gathering. Some families light a candle and read together on Christmas Eve, and others bring a meal to a neighbor. Those who find the season hard because of loss or distance can reach out through the requests page. A ward member will respond with care and without any pressure.
